This resort is located on a semi-private beach, which it shares with 3 other resorts, and is a 20 minute boat ride away from the hustle & bustle of Phi Phi’s main area. The beach at the Erawan P, consisting of soft white sand fronting transparent turquoise water, is very beautiful and is a highlight of the resort.
The reception staff greet the thirsty traveler with the tastiest welcome drink this reviewer has so far enjoyed. Asking for a second serving is not frowned upon, but travel writers requesting a third glass get a strange look.
There is better-than-average snorkeling, which is becoming something of a rarity in Thailand, directly off the beach at the Erawan P. The resort has a sizable and tastefully designed swimming pool overlooking the ocean and offers in-house massage sessions and kayak rental services.
The staff are friendly, which is normal in Thailand, and the service is quick, which is not so normal. This travel writer, upon checking in, found a technical problem in the room, which got fixed within 20 minutes of the problem being reported.
Wifi is only available in the lobby, and the connection was slow and unreliable at the time of our inspection visit. The resort said they were in the process of getting high-speed wifi installed. Any feedback to us from travelers on whether this has actually happened would be gratefully received by us, please email us on enquiries@andamanadventures.com.
Getting There
There are 2 daily ferries from Phi Phi’s main area, known as Tonsai bay, to Erawan P’s beach. These ferries can not be recommended, as they are rather unreliable and are further often crowded and uncomfortable. Private long tail boats are always on standby at Tonsai bay’s main pier and can transfer you for approximately THB 1,200 each way. Surprisingly, Erawan P’s own long tail boat will transfer you back to Tonsai bay for even less - THB 900. Night-time transfers can be an issue: if the seas get rough at night, which happens often, the boatmen will refuse to go back out to Erawan Palms. So if you’ve been partying in Phi Phi’s main area, you can get stranded and unable to return to your hotel.
Restaurants
The Erawan P has 2 restaurants during low-season and three during high season (Nov 1st to May 1st). This travel writer enjoyed eating here, although only had a chance to sample a very limited selection of menu items.
Tripadvisor reviews appear to support the conclusion that the food here is good.
Accommodation
Standard Room
There are 28 of these, located in 2 buildings. The newer of the two building is in significantly better condition than the older one – when booking this resort, we always ask for a unit in the new building for our customers.
The rooms in the new building have much smarter bathrooms, better garden views, and they benefit from rear balconies.
Superior Bungalows
These 12 bungalows are essentially the same as the Deluxe Bungalows (see below), but they are all garden-facing and thus have no sea views or pool views.
Deluxe Bungalows
These stylish hardwood bungalows are well equipped with a big flat -screen TV, a large fridge, a mini-bar, and a tea & coffee maker. Decoration of the bed with flowers upon check in is standard practice, not just reserved for honeymooners as in many resorts. The bathrooms are equipped with a rain shower.
Families can book a pair of bungalows with a connecting door. Some units have sea views, others only have pool views. Thanks to our inspection visit, we know which unit numbers enjoy sea views, and request these numbers for our customers at the time of booking.
