This resort is divided into two separate zones, the 'Beachfront Zone' and the 'Hotel Zone', which are separated by a 300 metre walkway. The Beachfront Zone is located at the northern end of Long Beach, and occupies fully 200 metres of prime beach frontage.
There are two attractive and pleasingly rustic thatched bars and a massage hut on the beach, all spread out along the beach. Mature casuarina trees provide shade and enhance the atmosphere of an already otherwise attractive setting.
The beachfront restaurant area is very attractively constructed out of antique bricks and timber in the round, is thatched, and blends in very naturally into its superb environment.
Lillavadee flowers and swaying coconut palms complete the picture of an archetypically tropical idyll.
The beachfront area has no pool, but none is necessary, as the beach is good for swimming here all day, whatever the state of the tide. For the children though, a pool is pretty essential on holiday, so it's a good job that this resort does have a pool, in fact two pools, in the Hotel Zone. For visitors who like a larger resort with good facilities, and who are looking for great value on Long beach, the Lanta Resort is a great choice.
The Hotel Zone of the resort, located 300 metres from the beach, has won no architectural awards. It has two large pools, one of which was designed specifically for children.
Families needing connecting rooms need to stay in the Resort Wing. Families with children old enough not to require connecting rooms are advised to stay in the Beachfront Zone, and bring the children up once or twice a day to the pool area. The short walk is a welcome stretch for slothfull legs, and the kids will love the pool here. For children who are old enough to swim unsupervised, there is no problem with them to-ing and fro-ing between the Beachfront Zone and the Hotel Zone.
Accommodation
Beachfront Zone
Superior Bungalow
These smart and immaculately clean bungalows are great value for money. They have sizeable terraces with comfortable loungers. Some of them have seaviews, others do not.
The best units are, surprise surprise, the ones nearest to the sea. While these units are great value for money, it is well worth the extra money to take a Beachfront Deluxe unit if you can afford it, as they have much quieter locations.
All the Superior Bungalows face the restaurant, so there is a constant stream of people walking by. This is a large resort, and it's a plus to get a bungalow in a quieter part of it.
Deluxe Bungalow
These large and immaculate bungalows are tastefully decorated and are one of the best choices on Long Beach. They are thatched, and offer high quality furniture, fittings, bathrooms and upholstery.
The best of these 13 bungalows have fairly private views of palms and the beachfront, particularly the 2 bungalows to the northern end of the resort, and near the beach.
The other 11 bungalows have progressiveky worse sea-views the further from the beach they are located, so it's a good idea to get one close to the beach. Contact us and we'll request one of the better ones - we know which the best rooms numbers are in this resort, and in all the other worthwhile resorts on Lanta.
The very best thing about these excellent bungalows is the nice price, which makes them among the very best value-for-money room types on the island, particularly if you get one of the best two.
Ocean View Villa
These enormous and superbly equipped units are worth their high price tags. They are particularly popular with honeymooners, as there are so many places to get cosey : (a) the oversized bed (b) the large daybed (c) the terrace lounge area (d) the enormous shower (e) the stunning and totally private jacuzzi, which is located in a private bathroom garden area to the rear of the bungalow. These units are located in a single line that runs away from the beach. The nearer the unit to the beach, the better the view. If you contact us, we'll request one near the beach. For an accompanying child the daybed will be made up free of charge, but for a third adult in the room, the daybed will be charged as an extra bed.
Hotel Zone
Deluxe Pool Access Room
These well decorated rooms are immaculate and a good choice for families, as connecting rooms are possible and as they are all close to the pools, one of which is huge and interestingly configured for endless fun for smaller children.
The decor is pleasingly Thai, Unlike many Thai resorts, where you could be anywhere from Lanta to Lanzarote, in these rooms you know you are in Thailand.
These rooms are high quality and are recommended, but only for families with small childrem - everybody else is advise to go stay in the Beach Wing.
Deluxe Room
These rooms are located above the Pool Access rooms, and are light and airy.
Like the Deluxe Pool Access rooms, they are only recommended for families with small children.
Such families should contact us with their childrens' ages, so we can recommend an extra bed and/or a babycot and/or connecting rooms.
Superior Room
These rooms won't wow too many people, but are very clean and smart, and are a good choice for guests who can't afford a Deluxe Bungalow, but who want more privacy than the Superior Bungalows offer.
They are immaculate and tastefully decorated.
Maybe not the most exciting of accommodation options, they are a reasonable choice if other room types and resorts are full.
