By a mile the most attractive budget resort on Koh Lanta, this is a place that many back-packers become glued to, particularly as it offers, in addition to more expensive concrete accommodation, cheap wooden bungalows near the sea. There is a beautifully built rustic beach bar run by the irrepressible and affable Toffee, who can be trusted to sort out guests’ problems (for example broken motorbikes) without taking advantage of them.
The Ting Tong beach bar has live music and a party every night in high season, which fortunately is barely audible in the accommodation units further from the bar. The music, low tables and omnipresent cushions make this a great place to savour one of the fiery sunsets for which Lanta is fabled, or to get inebriated in very friendly surroundings. Mostly popular with the younger set, many parents also enjoy staying here, as they can leave a baby-sitter looking after their children a few steps away, while they enjoy a drink and a smoke at the bar. There is good snorkeling nearby.
Accommodation
Large, fairly clean air-con bungalows with hot water. Nothing fancy and not spotless, but nothing much wrong with them either. The balconies are large, and parents can supervise their children swimming in the pool from their balconies.
Prices
The above rates are net per room per night and inclusive of service charge and breakfast for 2 people.
