Since Sunprime took over this large resort in 2009, it has been remodelled and extended to incorporate 4 pools. There is not much natural shade as the trees have not had long enough to mature – there are however numerous umbrellas providing poolside shade. In the centre of Kamala beach, a mile of pure white sand protected by soaring casuarinas trees from the beating sun, the resort accommodates single travellers, couples or adult friends, but not families.
One is never at a loss for things to do here, the amenities range from a trouser press to a fully licensed clinic, with pool and ping-pong tables scattered throughout. The guest is not far from Patong and the resort offers a shuttle service to and from that most hedonistic of beaches.
Of the 4 bars, the beachfront choice is the first choice, being sandwiched between 2 pools and the sea – there is surely nothing better than a sunset beachside cocktail to finish off a wonderful tropical vacation day. This hotel operates a strict over 15s policy.
There are 2 restaurants, of which the beachfront one is definitely the best choice as it gets fantastic sea views.
Accommodation
Deluxe and Grand Deluxe
There a many variations of the Deluxe room type available here, all of which are furnished identically. The different flavours of Deluxe are different mainly in location and so the different quality views they offer.
The Deluxe Ground Terrace has direct access to the pool but correspondingly suffers from a lack of privacy on the terrace; also the showers in these rooms are only 5 feet high adding an unnecessary hassle.
The Grand Deluxe Back View is larger than its partners but has no view to speak of and is quite dark, lending an unwelcome atmosphere of gloom.
The Grand Deluxe Pool View room type is a bit of a misnomer as only half of these rooms offer pool views. The room that we recommend is a standard Deluxe room in the Beach Wing. A room on a higher floor gives you a full sea-view and with the plush balcony furniture allows you to enjoy it in un-costly comfort. Contact us and we’ll request one of these better rooms.
Junior Suite
The Junior Suite is large enough to accommodate 3 adults, and rather expensive for the standard offered. There are better places on Phuket to enjoy suite accommodation.
