Introduction

This is a collection of private villas by the beach on quiet and peaceful Koh Jum Island. Some have private pools, while others do not. There is a row of true oceanfront villas, and a second-row series of villas. Some villas are intended for couples only, while other villas can accomodate up to 10 people.

This 17-villa enclave sits on a long stretch of 700 metres beachfront, with a minimum distance of 15 metres between villas. This extremely low density gives the resort a very uncrowded, pristine and tranquil air. The beach, like the large majority of beaches in Southern Thailand, offers good swimming during high tide.

The villas are managed by a small team who also run the island's only scuba dive center, located on-site. There is a beachfront, communal swimming pool and restaurant offering good food at very democratic prices, which makes for a nice change from most luxury resorts in our region.

Daily maid service is available at all villas. If you leave the dishes, the maid will also do the dishes as part of standard service.

The villas at this resort deliberately have no airconditioning. As we have been able to verify ourselves, due to the seafront location of the domain, there really is no need for airconditioning at any of the villas. The seabreezes which flow freely throughout provide sufficient cooling. The villas have ceiling-mount and pedestal-mounted fans for those who desire additional cooling.

The villas at this resort have no TVs. The absence of TVs is also deliberate, as it gives people real quality time together, rather than having the option of zombie-ing out in front of the box. Most families are very thankful for the absence of TV sets by the end of their stays, even though they had somewhat feared the idea before arriving.

Baan Chalay

This one-bedroomed villa is intended for couples

Lavish use has been made of quality hardwood all over the villa. From the bed you can see and hear the waves lapping on the beach. The villa has 2 outdoor rainshowers, a fully-equipped kitchen and an oceanfront balcony. Italian cotto tiles decorate the floor.

Baan Noi Chalay

This villa is identical to Baan Chalay, located next-door, but does not have a kitchen as Baan Chalay does. Many guests do not require a kitchen on holiday and for such couples this is a good choice. The sculpted wooden frescoes on the walls are reminiscent of the Lanna Kingdom, based in Chiang Mai, which was the centre of Thai culture before Bangkok became the capital. The villa has a large L-shaped sofa with matching lounger, made of water hyacinth, which is extremely comfortable.

Baan Si Fah

This one-Bedroom villa with oceanfacing infinity pool has a fully-fitted kitchen and double outdorr rainshowers.

A babycot can be added. The extra large doors on each side of the villa give an al-fresco feeling to the space - you are virtually outside.

Baan Tonsai

This is a beachfront villa with oceanfacing private swimming pool. It consists of 3 standalone pavillions, 2 of which have bathrooms. The villa has a fully-fitted kitchen & dining table and there are plenty of beach loungers to go around. The bathrooms are huge, with large, dual outdoor showers and indoor showers.

Baan Sharmar

This large beachfront villa accommodates a maximum of 8 adults, with a babycot an optional extra.

This is no private pool, but the resort's next-to-empty communal pool is only 20 metres away. This is a great family choice.

Baan Don

This 3 bedroom pool villa accommodates a maximum of 6 adults.

The villa benefits from god sea siews and a private pool. It is surrounded by an impressive, well-manicured garden of archetypically tropical foliage. This villa, like the others at KJBV, has again a very open, airy feel. Seabreezes flow throughout the main house. The bedrooms boast gorgeous 4-poster kingsize beds, clearly inspired by the Lanna Kingdom artwork.
