This comfortable and low-key resort forms a welcome haven for many visitors from the stress of Western life.
It occupies a pretty spot facing Lao Liang island. The well-maintained and spacious grounds are enhanced but not enveloped by lush jungle vegetation, which donates welcome shade as well as improving the atmosphere.
Not the most exciting place to stay, the most thrilling thing to do here is listen to the waves lap the shore.
Most arrivees fall asleep, on and off, for a couple of days, then feel much refreshed. There is the occasional thrill to be had though - watching an iguanos climb a coconut tree, or a gecko eat a fly.
When lethargy ebbs and energy starts to flow, check out, follow the sunset, and go off island-hopping.
There are so many great places you can get to from Sukhorn, via Koh Lao Liang or Koh Bulone, without going back to the mainland.
Nothing is too much trouble for the super-friendly manager Ali, who likes everyone to accept a free orange. The beach here isn't great for swimming, as you need to keep your shoes on, because of the sharp coral underfoot.
Acccommodation
Superior Fan Bungalow & Superior Aircon Bungalow
These two room types are the same, except the latter has air-con. They lack the pretty thatched roofs of the Delux & VIP bungalows, and have smaller terraces and bathrooms.
They are however clean, and good value. An air-con isn't really necessary except in the hottest months around April, as these rooms get sea-breezes. The best of these rooms are the ones on the 2nd row a little way up the hill, as they offer good views.
Delux Fan Bungalow & Delux Aircon Bungalow
These smart and clean units have thatched roofs, clean bathrooms, and scenic balconies.
The best of them are the most southerly, as they are the most private.
The decor is a bit granny-ish.
VIP Aircon Bungalow
These units have better views than the Deluxe, but not significantly better ones. The Deluxe are better value for money. One of the air-con units at the Sukorn Beach Bungalows resort are a better bet, if they're available.
Family Aircon Bungalow
These are smart and reasonable value for money, but there's no pool, so children may get bored here. Each room contains a king-sized bed and a single. They are a bit bigger than the Deluxe rooms.
