Lipeh Beach Resort, Koh Lipe
Independent Review
Introduction
 |
This resort occupies a prime position on Sunrise Beach, and benefits from excellent swimming and an uncrowded, peaceful atmosphere, which is so quiet that birdsong can be heard among the many trees. |
A large area of land by the beach has been left untouched, and is a shady spot in which to catch or avoid some rays. The shared facilities of the resort are comfortable, and there are cozy spots to relax. The resort has one room type, the Bamboo Bungalow, which is good value. |

Accommodation
Bamboo Bungalow
 |
There are only 5 of these cute little bungalows, all occupying a beachfront position set back 20 metres from the beach. In front of the bungalows there is only a large shaded sandy area between the bungalows and the beach. Each bungalow, in addition to a comfortable terrace, has its own quaintly rustic garden area, which looks particularly pleasing, particularly at night. |
The mattresses are not too ancient, and the bathrooms are relatively clean, except for the floors – you’ll want to wear your flip-flops while showering. For most budget backpackers, the rustic architecture, low prices and dangling lines of seashells more than make up for having to wear shoes in the shower.
White House

These older bungalows are not nearly as nice as the bamboo bungalows, but just about acceptable for a very short stay. It can be difficult to get one of the bamboo bungalows, so maybe stay in one of these units for a night or two, waiting for one of the Bamboo Bungalows to become vacant. |
