Pimalai Resort - Location

Kantiang fully deserves its recent award as Thailand’s best beach, for many reasons: 

• The beach is good for swimming at all times.

• The middle stretch of the beach, 500 metres long, is owned by Pimalai but has not been developed, giving the beach an uncrowded and perfectly natural feeling.

• At the far end of the beach from Pimalai, there are two fun little beach bars. One of these, the quaintly rustic Why Not bar, is quite possibly the best beach bar in Thailand. There is live music here most nights, usually performed by a band that is so good it tours in Europe. The Why Not bar is just the right distance from Pimalai - close enough to reach after a leisurely stroll down the beach, but not so close as to disturb the peace at the resort.

• A few minutes offshore, there is excellent snorkelling and scuba diving around Koh Haa island, where the fish numbers have over recent years increased due to the Pimalai-led project to breed and release clownfish there.

• The beach is the only one on Lanta which is kept clean year round, due to regular beach cleaning expeditions by Pimalai staff, led from the front by the resort’s General Manager.

•  During the dry season (November to April) spectacular sunsets are a near daily occurrence.
