Sunda Resort is located near Nopharat Thara Beach. Located 500 metres inland, guests here get a feeling of living in a tropical jungle, as the rooms here are surrounded by lush greenery. The restaurant in the hotel is small and attractively decorated with antique bricks and reclaimed driftwood. Surrounded by a small canal and a tropical forest, fans keep guests cool. As it is a Muslim-owned resort, no alcohol is served and guests are not allowed to bring any of their own into the restaurant. Guests are, however, allowed to bring alcohol back to their rooms. This resort provides free wireless internet all over. Free roundtrip shuttles are provided from 8:00am to 10:00pm. Most guests use a tuk tuk on the way back, as it is rather pointless to call the resort for a pickup if you have a phone on roaming, as it will cost more and take longer than grabbing a tuk tuk.
This resort has two swimming pools to cater to different preferences. Some guests may not like being surrounded by too much forest as it can get humid. One swimming pool is located in a forest surrounding, while the other is in a more open area where guests can enjoy the breeze and perhaps a quiet read. The resort is quite close to a mosque. This is not very audible, but this resort is not recommended for very light sleepers. The rooms furthest from the mosque are the quietest and the ones to request – we can request the quieter rooms for you as, as a local agent, we know which they are.
It is not ideal to bring younger children here as the raised walkways are a hazard to them.
Accommodation
Garden View
These rooms have horrible colour schemes and no private terraces. The décor is dated and rather drab.
Canalside
These rooms here have comfortable terraces surrounded by nature. Like the restaurant, the terraces are equipped with sloping wooden benches that are complemented with antique bricks and reclaimed driftwood. The highlight of the Canalside rooms is that the terrace is situated at the back of the rooms and so is a quiet and private area for couples. Although there are neighbouring canal rooms visible, they do not feel intrusive as there are trees between each room. The bathrooms in the Canalside rooms have their own simplistic style, which has a natural feel to it, with a small garden on the corner. This is the best value room type in this resort and is recommended.
Poolside
The Poolside rooms have comfortable terraces surrounded by nature.
