Ao Nang’s Apasari hotel is only 2 years old as at Nov 2011, and offers good value for money in a reasonable location. It is located about 400 metres from both Ao Nang and Hat Nopparat Thara beaches, so is close to both beaches and all amenities, while still located in a peaceful and quiet spot.
The pool is not big enough for getting exercise, but perfectly adequate for a dip. There is a shortage of sun-loungers in the small spaces around the pool during peak season, so guests who want to lounge by the pool all day must get up early to secure one.
The downside of the immaculate condition and good value this resort offers is that the shared facilities, particularly the pool, are sometimes a little less than adequate to cope with the hotel’s guest numbers. This happens only in high or peak seasons, when the hotel is full. The resort has a rather cramped feel, with the pool surrounded by tall accommodation blocks, so for most people it will be more a place to sleep than a place to spend days lounging around. That said, many people won’t feel it to be much of a hardship to lounge by the pool with a book, but only if they can get hold of a lounger, which in high season they will have to get up early to do.
The restaurant is competent enough for a mid-range hotel, but not particularly inspiring. Pool-side lunch snacks from the restaurants are OK if you avoid fancier Western fare, but guests are advised to dine out. This is a pleasure, as the hotel is ideally located close to most of the best restaurants in town – see map for details.
