The only reason to choose the Centara Grande is for the great city views. The monumental architecture might please some visitors, but the high prices won't be to many peoples' linking. While this luxury hotel fully justifies its 5 stars, there are more interesting, more Asian places to stay in Bangkok. This hotel could be anywhere in the world - there is no discernible Asian or Thai influence anywhere, except in the service standards, which are as typically hugh and Thai as is to be expected. The Centara Grande is located in Rachaprasong district, which is a good choice for business travellers, but a poor one for holidaymakers.
Accommodation
Superior
These rooms are decorated in the standard Centara style and could thus be anywhere in the world - there is no Thai character, in fact no character at all, about these comfortable but boring rooms
World Deluxe & World Club Deluxe
These
2 room types look exactly the same, and differ
only in the facilities offered. If you want a DVD player you have to book a World Club Deluxe room, which makes
the World Deluxe rooms maybe the most expensive rooms in Bangkok which don't have a DVD player. These rooms all have huge views, but are as boring as the Superior rooms.
Executive Suite
These are a big improvement over the hotel's other room types, and offer a sizeable living room in addition to the bedroom. While they are very comfortable, they are an expensive option in such a competitive hotel market as Bangkok's.
Prices
The above rates are net per room per night and inclusive of service charge and breakfast for 2 people.
