Marina Resort

Independant Review

Introduction

The highlight of this resort is the amazingly rustic bungalow design. For those who can't afford the Bulone Resort or Pansand, this is the place to book.

The resort is located a 5 minute walk from the beach, and has a restaurant which is a materfull example of the rustic building style that Thai craftsmen excel at. None of the structure contains a straight piece of wood, and a large tree grows through the middle of the building. It's worth clicking on the image on the left, in order to take a closer look.

The yummy food and low prices at the Marina Resort restaurant lure many guests away from the resorts on the beach. The restaurant suffers from slow service, as it's popularity seems to have overtaken its kitchen capacity.

The image on the right is of the massage hut, which is a blisfull spot for a bit of a pummeling.

Another highlight here is the landscaping of the grounds, which beautifully complements the back-to-nature look of the bungalows. Red and yellow hibiscus are the dominant theme, with coconut trees swaying gracefully overhead. It is necessary to book this resort well in advance if you want to be sure of a bungalow.

Acccommodation

Fan Bungalow

Each spacious bungalow is constructed of sun-bleached poles roofed in thatch. The thatch is replaced every few years, so the bungalows remain in good shape. Each balcony is comfortably furnished with 2 comfy rustic-style loungers, and is a perfect place to relax.
The bed is constructed in rustic style and is topped by a mattress which is, thankfully, not in the least rustic. The mattresses are thick, fairly new and very comfortable. There are no flyscreens on the windows, but mosquito-netting over the bed should keep you bite-free during the night.

The best units are the ones towards the back of the resort, as they have greater privacy, and better views, contact us with your dates, and we'll see if it's available.
