Laem Sai Village Resort, Koh Yao Noi
Independant Review
Introduction
During the cool months of December to March Lom Lae is a better if more expensive choice for families on a budget, but after Lom Lae closes down every May 1st for 6 months, the Laem Sai Village Resort is the best choice. |

Other Thai destinations such as Ao Nang, Koh Lanta and Phuket offer a considerably wider choice of budget air-con accommodation than does Koh Yao Noi, and people who really want air-con are advised to think twice about Koh Yao Noi as a destination. For most people holidaying during the cool months of December to March the absence of air-con rooms is not a issue. Small children arriving in the hotter months of April to July directly from a much colder climate, however, can find the absence of air-con a problem. If you need advice, contact us.

Amenities and Accommodation
What this modest resort lacks in location, it makes us for in facilities – whilst it is located on a non-swimming beach, it offers a swimming pool and air-con rooms at a reasonable price. The downstairs family room offers almost direct pool access from the verandah, so parents can relax while their children cover the standard circuit from pool to restaurant to room. This convenience of child-minding more than makes up for the room’s rather uninspiring décor. The cheap prints on the walls lower rather than raise the tone, but for people who want air-con at a reasonable price this is a good choice of resort. Apart from the single decent air-con bungalow at Suntisook Resort, it is pretty much Koh Yao Noi’s only choice for affordable air-con.

Restaurant
The Laem Sai Village Hotel offers one of the best budget resort breakfasts on Koh Yao Noi. The bread is the factory-produced cheap stuff, but on this Muslim island at least the eggs are accompanied by sausages, albeit chicken ones. Children are provided with breakfast cereal, and muesli with fruit and yoghurt is also available. |
All the breakfast here needs is quality bread in the toaster, but this is unavailable in the shops on Koh Yao Noi. It is a good idea, when arriving on the island, to bring your own quality bread purchased on the mainland. If you book your resort and transfer through us, we’ll give you a free loaf of quality bread on arrival, plus buy as many more loaves on your behalf as you wish to order. |
 |
 |
The resort’s restaurant is an adequate place to eat lunch and dinner, but nothing to compare with the fantastic Laem Sai seafood restaurant, located just a couple of minutes’ drive away. |
