Moonwalk Resort, Koh Lanta

Independant Review

This modest yet comfortable resort is one of the best budget establishments on the island. Its pool isn’t huge, but it doesn’t need to be, as there are only a few rooms in this family-friendly and family-run resort. The resort’s Moonwalk Bar is one of Khlong Kong Beach’s low-key foci for fun, but not one that gets so noisy that guests can’t sleep. Whilst the rustic architecture isn’t up to the superlative standard of that at the Where Else Resort or the Lanta Emerald, extensive and attractive use of driftwood has been made in the bar and restaurant areas, which overlook the beach.

Accommodation

Connecting Family Rooms

Whilst the decoration is rather garish and not in the best possible taste, the connecting rooms represent good value for money and are recommended for parents with older children, but who are not particularly deep pockets. Rooms 401/1 and 401/2 are a particularly good choice for families, as parents can supervise their children frolicking in the pool nearby, while comfortably lounging around on their sizeable terrace.

Superior

These are a good choice for those for like an immaculate concrete bungalow (who wants those bugs that bamboo bungalows let in anyway?), but want to stay at a resort with rustic Thai architecture in the resort’s communal areas. The bungalows’ balconies are on the small side, but are perfectly adequate for a shorter stay. They have air-con, attractive views of mature palm trees and are only a few metres from the beach.

Standard Rooms

These rooms are the same as the Superior rooms, except that they have fans instead of air-con and are a little further from the beach.

Garden Bungalow

Most of these bungalows are slightly scruffy but still clean, but the two furthest from the beach are not recommended, as they are really rather ugly and situated in a grotty spot.
