Morning Mist Resort, Khao Sok
Independant Review
This resort is currently Khao Sok’s best mid-range resort choice. The comfortable restaurant area is beautifully constructed from three stilted pavilions, which elevate the diner into the jungle foliage and offer great views of the surrounding karst mountain scenery, thus forming a great place to eat.
It has no connecting rooms, so families with smaller children will be forced to book one of the family bungalows, which afford parents no night-time privacy. There is no pool and the resort offers no really great family accommodation so, whilst this is a good choice for families who will be exploring the region during their days here, they are not advised to spend their days here in-resort.
Whilst families are advised to use the resort as a base for exploring the area and not for relaxation, there is a good room type here for couples who wish to relax in-resort, see below for more. There is no air-con, but this really isn’t necessary up here in Khao Sok, even in the hottest months of April and May.
Accommodation
Two-storey Buildings – Upstairs
These rooms aren’t tree-houses, but give their occupants a similar feeling of being elevated and surrounded by a jungle scene, to which the huge rock-faces form a dramatic backdrop.
Two-storey Buildings – Downstairs
There is nothing wrong with these rooms apart from being a little dark, but nothing particularly inspiring about them either. For visitors who will be spending most of their time on day-trips, they serve perfectly adequately as places to sleep.
Semi-detached One-storey Bungalows – Garden View
These comfortable rooms have large terraces and bamboo-paneled walls. Whilst nothing special, a pair of these bungalows will serve well as family accommodation for families who will be spending most of their days on day-trips and whose children are old enough to be able to sleep in separate buildings.
Detached Wooden Bungalow
These comfortable bungalows have large balconies, are surrounded by open space and have two double beds. They are a good choice for families with younger children, but offer parents no night-time privacy.
River-view Bungalows
These semi-detached bungalows are a great option for couples, and are the only accommodation the resort offers which is really suitable for relaxing days spent in-resort. A great mid-priced option for honeymooners, these bungalows have large terraces at the back over-looking the river, from which the occupants can observe the antics of the tubers and canoeists on the river, and of the monkeys and squirrels in the surrounding forest.
