Vogue Resort & Spa, Ao Nang

                Introduction
Located 5 minutes walk from Ao Nang’s beachfront (click here for map), this is one of Ao Nang’s most tastefully presented resorts.

The elegant lobby is furnished with chairs that are more pleasing to the eye than the bottom, but are adequate for a short sit, which is usually all that is required, as the hotel has a reputation for efficient check-ins and check–outs, and also for friendly staff, for cleanliness and for efficient service. The elegant atmosphere extends to the sun-dappled and shaded interior courtyard, where water features lull the ears and antique-looking statuary catches the eye. The resort is 8 years old, but doesn’t look it.

The foliage ands trees have had time to mature and form a green canopy that enhances the premises, without excessively enveloping them.

                Fitness Room
The small fitness room has only 3 machines, and no rowing machine. Maybe it would be better to take a high room and get exercise on the stairs instead, whilst earning the better views from up there.

The main restaurant is perfectly adequate for breakfast, unless you like brown bread, in which case contact us and we’ll give you a complimentary loaf on arrival. |

Whilst lunch-time snacks here are perfectly OK, the food at the many gourmet eateries a short stroll away is cheaper and just as good, click here for our restaurant map.

                      |
The pool is perfectly adequate, but not one of the hotel’s highlights. |

                Spa
The resort's highlight, the spa is very tastefully decorated with carved wooden statuary and friezes, and antique brickwork. The prices are high, so guests may like to take a short stroll to one of the many massage shops nearby which, whilst offering much lower prices, are rather hit and miss in quality.

                Accommodation
The only connecting rooms which overlook the pool are the up-market ‘Honeymoon Deluxe’ rooms, making this an expensive option for families. The presence of many steps and stairs throughout the resort make it even less attractive for families with small children, and adults with mobility problems should absolutely not stay here – the resort is built into a hillside and, while this affords many of the rooms great views, it means that even the ground floor bedrooms require a fair number of steps to get to.

                    ‘Deluxe’ Rooms
The ‘Deluxe’ rooms are immaculate and furnished with understated elegance and style – even the paintings on the walls are tasteful, which is most unusual in Thailand, even in the best resorts, as resorts usually decorate the walls with hybrid Western-Thai paintings, which please neither Westerners nor Thais. The Ao Nang Vogue has sensibly stuck to pure Thai-style artwork. Some of the ‘Deluxe’ rooms have good sea-views, others less good. The higher the room, of course, the better is the view. Also, the views from some of the higher-floor rooms are to a large extent obscured by trees. Contact us to ensure you get the best sea-view possible, in addition to an unbeatable price.

                    ‘Honeymoon Deluxe’ Rooms

                    | These rooms do not have as good a sea-view as the ‘Deluxe’ rooms. Their balconies, however, have grandstand views of the karst ramparts that separate Ao Nang from the Railay peninsula. These balconies are very comfortable and furnished with built-in benches with permanently reclining back-rests. |

                      |
Beautifully and tastefully furnished, the rooms are unusual in that the bathroom is not separated from the bedroom. Only the WC is separated off, and this only by a curtain, not a door – some people will find the lack of a proper door on the WC off-putting. The presence of the huge bath in the bedroom is, however, perfect for honeymooners, as it encourages all manner of soapy fun and games. |
