Red Ginger Chic Resort, Ao Nang

Introduction

This hotel is very modern, clean and elegantly finished, and has rooms which are spacious and equipped with everything you need. The pool is rather small, but has a nice pool bar (complete with underwater bar stools) and a separate children’s pool. In high season, you have to get up early if you want to bag a sun-lounger.

The resort indulges in some of the standard mid-range resort annoyances, like charging per item for laundry (when around town THB 35 / kg is standard), putting seals on the drinks in the mini bar so you can’t drink and then replace them, and having to ask them to turn on the daily DVD movie, which then plays ‘The Incredible Hulk’ continuously for 48 hours.

These are however minor annoyances compared with the benefits offered by the hotel, which is very new and so still in immaculate condition throughout, and good value for money.

Restaurant

The breakfast bread here won’t be to many travellers liking. If you book with us we’ll deliver a quality baker’s loaf to you on arrival. One www.tripadvisor.com contributor wrote this about the restaurant:

“For lunch and dinner the restaurant is pretty average and I suggest you go in to Ao Nang for better choices”.

The hotel is almost new, so limited feedback has so far been received on the restaurant. We would be most grateful if you were to tell us what you think of the food here. The hotel is well located within easy walking distance of most of Ao Nang’s best restaurants (including Wang Sai seafood, just a few steps away), nightlife and amenities, click here for a map.

Accommodation

The 6 different room types this resort offers are good value for money. All rooms are immaculate, but some have much better views than others. One www.tripadvisor.com contributor wrote:

“The garden view was no garden - it was just an ugly field of grass”.

The reader can note the contrast between this comment and the beautifully verdant view out of a window shown in the image, which was supplied by the hotel, next to the above text. When the writer visited the resort, he was shown a room with a view similar to the image above, but there is some waste ground next to the resort, which would account for the www.tripadvisor.com comment.

Similarly, some rooms’ sea-views are considerably better than others. For a room with a view, contact us – our office is only 1 minute away on a motorbike, so we’ll pop round and get you the best room for your dates. No other company offers you this service, plus we hope an unbeatable price.

We expect the 5 ground-floor ‘Deluxe Pool Access’ rooms to get booked up early in the season, as many people love the idea of jumping out of bed and then straight into the pool (after a shower, naturally), so it’s a good idea to book them as early as possible. The other huge benefit with the ‘Pool Acess’ rooms is that their terraces have sun-loungers, so you are guaranteed a lounger, no matter what time you get up and how full the hotel is. Getting a lounger by the pool, especially in peak season (20th Dec to 10th Jan), can be a big problem.
