Krabi Cha Da Hotel, Ao Nang
Introduction
When approaching this hotel the visitor is confronted with a large concrete structure painted a uniformly drab shade of grey - quite why anyone would choose this non-colour is a mystery. Thankfully, however, this unappealing first impression is dispelled by the more cheerfully decorated lobby, and the visitor can only see a little of the horrible grey paintwork from inside the hotel.
It is a 600m walk from the beach, followed by a stiff 200m uphill climb, so this hotel is not recommended for those with very young children or who have trouble walking up hills. Click here for a map. The benefit of the walk up the hill to the resort is that the views from some of the rooms are truly spectacular.
The resort has a children’s pool as well as two pools for adults, but the children’s pool has an infinity edge unguarded by a rail, so is not safe for unattended small children. The resort is only 5 months old as at May 2009, so is in immaculate condition throughout.
Restaurant
The restaurant is stylish decorated if a bit gloomy. The breakfast bread is the white sweet stuff, but if you book with us then, in addition to giving you a hopefully unbeatable price, we will deliver a fresh brown or wholegrain bakery loaf to you on arrival, which you can then get the staff to serve to you in place of the bread provided. For lunch the restaurant is OK for a club sandwich or some simple Thai food, but most guests eat out in the evening, at one of Ao Nang many excellent restaurants – click here for a restaurant/nightlife/amenities map.
Facilities
The hotel has a reasonably well-equipped fitness centre and a spa that is only three times as expensive for massage as the massage shops a short stroll away (this, for a mid-scale hotel in Ao Nang, makes it relatively inexpensive). So far we’ve had no feedback (either personally or via www.tripadvisor.com), on whether the spa is any good – if you have an opinion, please contact us, otherwise one of us will be forced to stroll up there and try out a massage ourselves!)
Accommodation
For a room with a view, contact us and we’ll pop over there and get you the best room available. Our office is only 400 metres away, so we can offer this service, unavailable elsewhere, completely free and accompanied by a hopefully unbeatable price.
‘Pool Access’ Room.
These rooms are immaculate, with the only possible complaint being that the bed linen is maybe a little garish. They are a great choice for a couples, who will enjoy sitting on their terrace, with the pool in front and beyond that a fantastic panoramic view of the karst ramparts that separate Ao Nang from Railay. The terraces are not private and, unusually for terraces with pool access, are not equipped with sun-loungers.
This means that their occupants are not guaranteed a sun-lounger and will have to compete with the other hotel guests for a lounger by one of the pools, which can be a problem for late-risers in the high season. Other Ao Nang resorts have pool access rooms equipped with sun-loungers, contact us and we’ll find you such a room, though not with as good a view as from some of this hotel’s rooms. Some of the ‘Pool Access’ rooms here have truly breath-taking views, whilst with others the view is not so panoramic, due to the sides of the building blocking the view.
‘Deluxe’ Room
 |
The rooms are very similar to the ‘Pool Access’ rooms, without the pool access. All the rooms on the higher floors have superb panoramic views, with those facing the mountains having better views than those facing the sea – whether facing to the mountains or the sea, the rooms have sea-views, but not great ones, as the sea is a bit too far away. Guests whose requirements emphasize privacy will prefer the high-floor ‘Deluxe’ rooms over either the low-floor ‘Deluxe’ rooms or the ‘Pool Access’ rooms. |
