| Daya Resort, Koh Lipe Independent Review Introduction

                          | | This resort has some lovely-looking beachfront bungalows on offer, whose excellent Pattaya beach location doesn't however make up for their shabby interiors, which make a London squat look like a palace. |    AccommodationThough the wooden bungalows at Daya are painted in bright, sunny colours, their interiors are much less inviting. They're dark and grimy, with lino floors and bare concrete walls. While the mouldy bathrooms are just about tolerable as the visitor spends little time in them, it’s the state of the beds that can’t be ignored. The ancient, creaky mattresses, which feel so well-used they might almost have been bought in second hand from a stint in a brothel in the other Pattaya, up near Bangkok. Only the most hardcore of travelers will be able to get a good night’s sleep on these beds. For such hardy folk, this is a good choice of resort.   PricesBamboo Bungalow - THB 800 Booking - theoretically, you can ring +66 (0) 814790682 or +66 (0) 89 6562397 and book ahead, but don’t rely on your booking being understood or properly recorded. It’s also not unlikely that it may get ‘forgotten’ about if a walk-in visitor wants the room you’re booked, and is willing to pay more than you’ve agreed to. The budget place of choice, for people who want to book in advance, is the Moonlight.                           Andaman Sky, Co., Ltd, 23/8 Moo 2, Ao Nang, Thailand    |
